There was plenty to talk about in the FA Women’s Super League and Championship in a weekend that saw Arsenal win again and Chelsea continue on their upward trajectory.

League leaders Arsenal extended their 100 per cent record with an eighth win of the season to maintain their six-point gap at the top.

Vivianne Miedema continued to ram home the goals for the Gunners and looks on course to set a new league goal scoring record if she continues in her red-hot vein of form.

Elsewhere, Tottenham maintained their position at the top the FA Women’s Championship table and Everton continued to struggle at the foot of the FA WSL.

Here’s a look at five things we’ve learned.

Arsenal gunning for the title

Arsenal were made to work hard by Everton but managed to get the job done, with a comfortable 4-0 win.

One a piece from Danielle van de Donk and captain, Jordan Nobbs added to Miedema’s brace made it another victory for the Gunners over the Toffees.

Miedema’s continued run of goal-scoring form will give Arsenal fans optimism that they can go all the way and claim their first FA WSL title since 2012.

Incidentally, Nobbs’ goal moved her up into outright fourth on the list of FA WSL all-time top goalscorers, which isn’t bad for a 25-year-old.

Miedema on course for goal scoring record

Vivianne Miedema hit the ground running when she arrived in the league and has shown no signs of slowing down turning in an impressive 13 league goals in her first eight games of the season.

The 22-year-old might well have her eyes on breaking the league goal scoring record which currently stands at 15, scored by Ellen White last year.

With 13 goals already in the bag already and 12 league games remaining, it looks inevitable that the Dutch forward will raise the bar even higher come the end of the year.

Spurs stay top

Tottenham remain at the top of the FA Women’s Championship after their narrow victory over Charlton Athletic.

A first-half Jessica Naz goal was enough to give Spurs all three points and keep them on top of their perch.

The 18-year-old’s individual effort and first goal of the season keeps the host two points ahead Manchester United in the table.

They will also be buoyed by the return of Anna Filbey who returned to the side from an injury lay off.

Four on the bounce for Chelsea

Chelsea won their fourth game in a row as they put five past Yeovil Town with no reply.

The defending champions showed that they’ve got a squad capable of contributing goals from all over the pitch as five different goalscorers chipped in.

Millie Bright and Ji So-Yun both bagged before Nicola Cousins received a straight red card for a cynical tackle on Erin Cuthbert.

Cuthbert, Ramona Bachmann’s and Beth England all got on the scoresheet too to seal Yeovil’s fate.

The Blues have now won three in a row and are two points behind second-placed Manchester City, having played a game more than the Sky Blues.

Everton still struggling

Everton’s 4-0 loss to Arsenal did not do the Toffees any favours at all but it could have been a lot more for Arsenal as the Gunners have dished out some landslide victories this season.

Nonetheless it leaves Everton struggling for points as they sit rock bottom of the table without a victory to their name this year.

A point behind tenth placed Yeovil Town, Everton will be looking at their next match against Reading as a must win, having already beaten them in a cup game this season.
