Wolves are poised to sign a PSG attacker who’ll follow two brand new midfielders into Molineux, and their business could pave the way for Liverpool to complete a much needed deal, per reports.

Julen Lopetegui’s arrival has breathed new life into what looked a campaign destined for failure at Wolves. A vital 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened West Ham on Saturday was Wolves’ second league win since domestic football returned.

They’ve collected seven points from a possible 12 in that time and also forced Liverpool into a replay in the FA Cup third round. They did bow out of the EFL Cup on penalties to Nottingham Forest, though the Premier League must take precedence anyway.

However, Wolves aren’t content to rest on their laurels and are gearing up for a big winter window.

Mario Lemina has already arrived from French club Nice for £9.7m. The ex-Southampton star will soon be joined in the engine room by Joao Gomes of Flamengo.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who gave Wolves’ move for the 21-year-old Brazilian his signature ‘here we go’ confirmation.

The trusted transfer guru tweeted on Sunday afternoon the central midfielder will fly to England later in the day ahead of undertaking a medical.

Wolves will pay Flamengo €17m (approx. £15m) to sign the player who already has well over 100 senior appearances to his name despite being just 21.

The good news doesn’t end there, with Romano adding a deal to sign PSG’s Pablo Sarabia ‘will be sealed next week’.

A €5m (approx. £4.4m) fee will find its way to Parisas a result. Unspecified future add-ons could swell the deal’s total cost down the line.

Sarabia has been a potent performer for both club and country throughout his career. He can operate on either flank or behind the striker and has scored nine in 26 for Spain.

He’s fallen out of favour in Paris of late, though that should come as no surprise given they boast a front line containing the likes of Mbappe, Messi and Neymar.

Sarabia spent last season on loan to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon and provided a reminder of exactly what he’s capable of.

The Spaniard ended the campaign with 21 goals in 45 matches and provided 10 assists too.

Wolves moves good news for Liverpool?

One club who’ll be keeping a close eye on Wolves’ business is Liverpool.

The Reds’ midfield has become a lightning rod for criticism of late and much of it appears justified.

They were once again far too easy to play through against Brighton on Saturday, and midfield additions later in 2023 are expected to take centre stage over on Merseyside.

One player they were heavily linked with last summer was Matheus Nunes. The former Sporting Lisbon star joined Wolves after they met his £38m release clause, though Liverpool’s interest has not subsided, according to Romano.

Jude Bellingham is their primary focus, but multiple additions look like they’ll be required. What’s more, the likes of Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all off contract at season’s end.

Wolves’ double move for Gomes and Lemina will ensure they’re able to cope in the event Liverpool do come knocking for Nunes.

Furthermore, the Mirror report Nunes’ fellow midfielder, Ruben Neves, is also on Liverpool’s radar.
