Fans of indoor football team vote 'no' to signing Greg Hardy

Hardy, 29, was embroiled in a domestic violence case in 2014 and hasn’t been on an NFL roster since the 2015-16 season.

The fans of the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles have spoken, and their stance is similar to the NFL.

The Indoor Football League team allowed their fansto decide if theyshould signGreg Hardy, butthey votedagainstadding the former Panthers and Cowboys defensive end following a 10-hour polling session that ended Thursday morning.

The Screaming Eagles announced Wednesday their fans could vote using the same appwhen they were allowedto voteon the team'splay-calling last month. The resultsshowed an even 50-50 split, though the "no" column was highlighted as the final decision.

Hardy was released by Carolinaafter ajudge found him guilty of assault on his ex-girlfriend. However, the charges were dropped during his appealafter the victim failed to appear in court.

Hardy made his return to the NFL by signing with Dallas after earning the support of team owner Jerry Jones. Despite negative attention, the Cowboys kept Hardy for the 2015 season but released him once it was over. Hardy hasn't made a return to football since, though he claimed to havean interest in pursuing an MMA career.

If Hardy's football career wasn't already dead, it certainly is now.
