Fantasy Football Injury Updates: Alvin Kamara, David Johnson affect Week 6 start 'em, sit 'em calls

Sporting News

The last couple weeks haven't featured many key RBs as game-time decisions, but Week 6 sees two of the best, Alvin Kamara and David Johnson, with the dreaded "questionable" tag -- and that's after Todd Gurley was surprisingly ruled "out" on Saturday. Yes, it will be a busy morning and afternoon checking for injury updates on these players, as both Kamara and Johnson (and their handcuffs Latavius Murray and Chase Edmonds) are key figures in fantasy start 'em, sit 'em decisions. We'll have the latest news right here up until official active/inactive reports are released.

Is Alvin Kamara playing Week 6?

UPDATE: Kamara is officially ACTIVE.

An ankle injury caused Kamara to be limited in Thursday's practice and miss the media portion of Friday's practice. Saints coach Sean Payton wouldn't comment on the star RB's status for Sunday's game against Jacksonville, leaving us to assume Kamara will be a game-time decision. For what it's worth, both ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported early Sunday morning that Kamara is expected to play.

If he can't go, Latavius Murray would step in and get the bulk of the rushing work for the Saints. He would be a legit RB2 given the volume. If Kamara plays, it's fair to expect he'll see fewer touches than usual, but he still should be started in all formats.

WEEK 6 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end

Johnson was in and out of the game more than usual last week, and that will likely be the case again this week. That means Chase Edmonds, who had a season-high 11 touches against the Bengals, will like see around double-digit touches again and be usable as a FLEX in all formats.
