Fantasy football scout tips gameweek 38: Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and more

Raheem Sterling

With one game remaining of the Premier League season, Sterling suddenly has as many non-penalty goals as top scorer Jamie Vardy. When did that happen? Over the last four games, Sterling has six goals to his name.

There is no reason to believe this form will cool off, provided he starts on Sunday. Norwich visit the Etihad and - despite winning September’s reverse fixture at Carrow Road - it is likely to be a long afternoon for the relegated side.

Erik Pieters

The final day is notoriously hard to predict but Burnley’s chances of a clean sheet are as good as anyone’s, with Brighton visiting Turf Moor. Plenty of managers already have Nick Pope between the sticks, so why not double up with a defender?

Pieters offers the most attacking up-side of any Burnley defensive options, with his occasional forays out from left-back. A clean sheet and an assist last time out helped boost his score to 12 points in gameweek 37.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Watford make the short trip to the Emirates with everything on the line, but the 4-0 defeat to Manchester City does not inspire confidence that Hayden Mullins and Graham Stack will be able to keep their heads above water.

Ben Foster admitted their confidence is “crazy low” after that game. Unless it has picked up in the time since, we can expect Aubameyang to profit, even if the Arsenal striker is without a goal in his last three league games.

Serge Aurier

Tottenham have been quietly impressive of late, thanks in part to their solid defensive foundations. Those in search of cheap points at the back may want to look at Aurier, who has been part of three clean sheets in his last five games.

It’s been a while since Aurier’s last attacking return - in the first game back after restarting against Manchester United - but that could change with Jose Mourinho’s side visiting a struggling Crystal Palace.

Callum Wilson

Something of a wildcard selection but Bournemouth desperately need goals to have any hope of survival and are travelling to play an Everton side that has largely underwhelmed post-lockdown.

Wilson remains slightly pricey at £7.4m considering the struggles of Eddie Howe’s side, but he is the player they turn to in their hour of need, and they have never needed him more than now.
