Fantasy football: You probably won your Week 5 matchup if you started a Chargers or Ravens star

If you started a player from the Baltimore Ravens or Los Angeles Chargers over the weekend you probably won your fantasy football matchup.

The Chargers and Ravens each had massive offensive performances in their comeback wins during Week 5. And those big stat lines directly correlated with wins for fantasy managers. The top six winningest players in Yahoo Fantasy Football were either from the Ravens or the Chargers.

Baltimore tight end Mark Andrews was the highest-scoring tight end of the week with over 36 points in Yahoo Fantasy leagues. Andrews had 11 catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns in Baltimore's 31-25 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts. With no other tight end scoring over 25 points, teams that started Andrews won over 78% of their matchups.

Los Angeles wide receiver Mike Williams wasn't far behind in both fantasy points and team winning percentage. Williams had 32.5 fantasy points in the Chargers' 47-42 win over the Cleveland Browns and was the top-scoring wide receiver of the week ahead of Green Bay's Davante Adams. Teams that started Williams won 74% of their matchups.

Baltimore wide receiver Marquise Brown wasn't far behind Williams with 29 points. Teams that started Brown won 70% of their games — we're confident that nearly anyone who had any combination of Andrews, Williams and Brown had an easy win in Week 5.

And as you can see in the graphic below, the teams' two star quarterbacks were also at least partially responsible for their fantasy team's success too.

If you had one of these players you probably won your Week 5 matchup.

Both Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson were the only QBs to break 40 points in Week 5. Herbert had 42.82 points as he threw for 398 yards and four touchdowns with 29 rushing yards thrown in. Jackson would have outscored Herbert if it wasn't for two red-zone fumbles. He had 41.88 points after he threw for 442 yards, rushed for 62 and threw four touchdowns with two two-point conversion passes as well.

Los Angeles running back Austin Ekeler was the sixth-winningest fantasy player in Week 5, too. While Ekeler wasn't the highest-scoring RB — the Titans' Derrick Henry grabbed those honors by less than a point, teams that started Ekeler won nearly 68% of their games. Ekeler had 30.4 points with three total touchdowns, 66 rushing yards and five catches for 53 yards.

Will both teams' offensive success carry over into Week 6? If it does, then we're in for quite the shootout. The Chargers visit Baltimore on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. The Ravens are favored by three points and the over/under is at 51. That's the fourth-highest points total of the week. If you're bullish on these offenses, you may want to take the over, especially if you've got any Chargers or Ravens players in your fantasy lineup.
