Fast X star Sung Kang has addressed a continuity error in the latest instalment of the fast car franchise.

The actor, who plays Han, has explained there's a specific reason behind this hair mistake, seemingly breaking continuity with previous chapter F9.

In F9, Han was revealed to have faked his own death, rocking short hair in a mid-credits scene with Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). While it wasn't clear at the time F9 was filming, that tag takes place during the events of Fast X, which created some confusion when Han reappeared in the new movie with longer hair.

Kang confirmed he was asked to cut his hair to match his character's on F9, but refused as Han's mane is his "superpower". Instead, the star resorted to tucking his hair back in an attempt to recreate the appearance of shorter hair - something which some fans noticed.

"The reason I wanted Han's hair to be short was that he's in hiding," Sung Kang told Insider of Han's different look in F9.

"So if he's walking around looking like Han it doesn't really make any sense to the character. You cut his hair, he kind of blends in."

Kang then explained his Han wouldn't be the same with short hair.

"I realised that there are a few things that people need from Han. They want snacks, they want cool cars, and they want his hair," Kang said.

"The hair is almost like a superpower he has... It's synonymous to what defines Han."

Once established that the longer hair would stay, the actor did some tests with the hair department, and that's how the hair tuck came about.

"There were a lot of notes and discussion about," he confirmed.

"And we did these tests where you get really close with the tucked-in hair. It could kind of match."

Fast X is in cinemas now. F9 is available to stream on Netflix in the UK and on Max and Peacock in the US.
