These are our favourite small crochet projects

Yarn crafts such as crochet and knitting have seen a huge rise in popularity over the last few years.

But after you learn how to crochet, you don't always have time to complete ambitious projects like a crochet blanket or a crochet vest.

Sometimes, a crafter needs a simple project they can complete in an afternoon. And that's when small crochet projects are great – from cute book sleeves to fun earrings, they're great pieces for your home and wardrobe which won't take more than a few hours to make.

Here, we've rounded up our favourite quick crochet projects to inspire you to get stitching. There's something for every style in this selection – happy crafting!

Cute crochet earrings

We can't get enough of the crochet earrings trend this summer. They're such a fun project to work on and mean you can have accessories to match every outfit. What's not to love?

We love these adorable crochet earrings that Realm Designs shared on TikTok – the strawberry design makes them the perfect statement for summer.

Flower power garland

A crochet flower garland makes a lovely crafty addition to your bedroom or living room. String it up among your fairy lights for a whimsical look.

We have the perfect pattern for a crochet daisy garland for you to try. And if you'd like even more inspiration, we love this blossom-effect garland from Katie on TikTok.

Accessorise with a charm

Another fun quick project is a crochet charm to add to your bag or purse. These are adorable and can be anything from crochet flowers to fruit and amigurumi animals.

These bow and butterfly crochet charms shared by Mahum on TikTok are lovely – the pink and white yarn makes them look so pretty on a handbag.

Give a gorgeous book sleeve

Book sleeves are such a fun granny square project and (depending on the size of the book!) can be worked up in a few hours.

To make a book sleeve, crochet a granny square approximately twice the width of your book. Stitch two of the edges together in an envelope shape and place your book inside. Stitch on a button to fasten the sleeve and you're done!

We love this one from strawbstitches on TikTok made using tulip stitch – it makes such a lovely addition to giving a book as a gift.

Keep your page with a bookmark

A bookmark is another great quick crochet project. Most crochet bookmarks are worked using a foundation chain followed by two rounds of stitches, making it a great make to work up in an afternoon.

This mushroom bookmark from Nour Crochets on TikTok is oh-so-sweet – and means you'll never lose your page again!

Super easy crochet scrunchie

The big hair scrunchies are back on trend and what better way to make something completely unique than by crocheting your own? You just need a regular elasticated hair tie, your choice of yarn and know how to do some simple crochet stitches.

This quick tutorial by Mossy Threads on TikTok shows just how simple and quick it is to make these handy hair accessories.

Cute tulip coasters

We love incorporating flower patterns into our projects and we're big fans of all things tulip inspired, so this quick crochet coaster is top of our list to try.

These crochet tulip coasters as demonstrated by Ellies Toe Beans on Tiktok are the perfect place to rest your cuppa while crafting.
