Federico Chiesa’s response to Liverpool question says it all as £13m bid considered
Federico Chiesa named Steven Gerrard as his favourite in the age old debate over who was the top midfielder out of the Liverpool icon, Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.
His selection will stand in good stead with Liverpool fans, as many are hoping he seals a move to Anfield before the window shuts. The Italian forward does not appear to have a future at Juventus, as it was reported that boss Thiago Motta has frozen him out of the first-team squad.
This means that Liverpool could secure his signature for a bargain price ahead of Friday's deadline, with the Echo reporting that Chiesa is available for around £13million.
Fans may warm to the prospect of him joining even more so due to the 26-year-old's comments back in May 2022, when he shared his appreciation for Liverpool icon Gerrard.
Chiesa was asked who he would want to have in his midfield out of Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard, and his feelings were clear. He simply stated: "Stevie G."
Gerrard is widely regarded as one of the best players to ever grace Anfield, winning the Champions League, two FA Cups and three League Cups during his time at Liverpool. Chiesa's praise for the Merseyside icon could be telling in the club's attempts to lure him to the Premier League.
Chiesa has enjoyed a trophy-laden two years at Juventus after a successful loan spell, winning two Coppa Italias and a Supercoppa Italiana.
With his contract set to run out next summer, the Italian club need to sell him soon to avoid the 26-year-old leaving on a free transfer.
Liverpool bosses are now considering a bid for Chiesa, as reports suggest that talks have begun over a switch to England. The potential bargain price could attract Arne Slot to the transfer, as the new Reds boss is yet to make a signing in this window.

Chiesa has clocked up 131 appearances in total for Juventus, netting 32 goals and providing 23 assists during his tenure at the club.
His attacking prowess - which helped Italy win Euro 2020 - could be a helpful option for Slot to bolster his front line further.
This would lighten the load on players like Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota as they aim to compete for titles across four competitions.
