Fikayo Tomori has been recalled to the England squad after flourishing in Italy, but his former Chelsea team-mate Tammy Abraham has missed out.

Centre-half Tomori, who earned his one cap against Kosovo in 2019, has impressed since leaving for AC Milan in January and returns almost two years after his maiden call-up.

Arsenal defender Ben White has missed out on a recall, despite Gareth Southgate facing a defensive headache for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.

Harry Maguire is injured, while his centre-half partner John Stones has not played for Manchester City this season.

Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is also out but Chelsea’s Reece James and Mason Mount have been called up despite an ankle injuries.

Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell has missed out again, having barely featured since helping the Blues win the Champions League.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been recalled. Jude Bellingham has been left out of the squad.

Southgate is also short of forwards to compete with Harry Kane, with Patrick Bamford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured and Marcus Rashford recovering from surgery.

But Abraham has not earned a recall, despite rebuilding his career at Roma, while there is also no place for Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
