Film Independent Spirit Awards 2024: See the full winners list

Aidy Bryant hosted the 39th annual awards show where "American Fiction," "May December," and "Past Lives" led the film nominations.

The 39th Film Independent Spirit Awards celebrated the best in, you guessed it, independent film (and television) at the Santa Monica Pier tonight, swapping out Hasan Minhaj for Aidy Bryant as this year's host. Last year introduced gender-neutral acting categories, so the competition was stiff among the six performance categories (three for film, three for TV).

The ceremony streamed live on Sunday, Feb. 25, on Film Independent's YouTube channel and X (formerly Twitter) feed. Past Lives, The Holdovers, and Beef were the big winners of the night, with The Holdovers taking home 3 awards, while both Past Lives and Beef taking home 2 each.

While Oscar frontrunner Paul Giamatti wasn't nominated for his performance in The Holdovers,  his costars Da'Vine Joy Randolph won Best Supporting Performance and Dominic Sessa won Best Breakthrough Performance. The film itself was also left out of the Best Feature race, which ultimately went to Past Lives, along with Best Director for Celine Song. Meanwhile Beef, the Netflix limited series, won for both Best New Scripted Series and star Ali Wong picked up an award for Best Lead Performance in New Scripted Series

The big winner at last year's Film Independent Spirit Awards, Everything Everywhere All at Once, went on to replicate its wins for Michelle Yeoh, Key Huh Quan, Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards.

Here are all the winners.
