Final Premier League table forecast as Liverpool gift Arsenal title race boost
A supercomputer has predicted who will win the Premier League this season, accounting for all results from last season, pre-season data and current form. Mikel Arteta will be determined to finally get his hands on the trophy after falling short at the final hurdle two-years in a row.
During the 2022/23 campaign, Arsenal were just weeks away from crowning themselves champions of England but, shortly after William Saliba picked up an injury, they conceded first place to Manchester City. Then, on the final day of last term, the Gunners needed Pep Guardiola's side to drop points against West Ham to win the title.
Manchester City stormed past the Hammers to win a fourth successive championship, crushing Arsenal's dreams. This season, Arteta will be desperate to finally dethrone Guardiola, who's already managed to establish a two point lead at the top of the table.
So, with that being said, football.london takes a look at what impact the weekend's results have had on OLBG's supercomputer. Despite cruising past Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Sunday, Manchester City have been tipped to win a historic fifth successive Premier League title.
OLBG's supercomputer have backed Guardiola's side to finish first on 92 points, with Arsenal coming in at second on 86 points. Meanwhile, Chelsea have been predicted to place third on 78 points, securing the west Londoners qualification to the Champions League.
Just one point will separate the Blues from Liverpool in fourth, according to the supercomputer, with Newcastle United coming fifth on 72 points and West Ham in sixth (62). After the weekend's defeat to Arsenal, OLBG have tipped Tottenham finish in seventh (56), though still ahead of Manchester United (56), Crystal Palace (56) and Aston Villa (56) on goal difference.

At the other end of the table, the supercomputer has named Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Ipswich Town as the three clubs to be relegated from the top flight. While Arsenal have been backed to come second again, OLBG believes that six points will separate the top two.
So, this weekend's clash against Manchester City could prove to be title-defining. Speaking to reporters after the North London Derby, Arteta was quizzed on his side's character.
The Spaniard said: "The people that we have, I think I already spoke about it during the week, people that are harder, they have thick skin, they love the game and they love winning.
"In order to love the game and win, you have to do a lot of things - sometimes people call them ugly. Enjoying doing those ugly things is a big compliment of this team right now, and when you're able to normally, you get a good gift."
