Tim Flowers has replaced David Lee as caretaker manager at Northampton.

Lee was placed in temporary charge following the departure of Gary Johnson last week. His only game at the helm proved to be the 7-2 home defeat to Shrewsbury on Saturday - the Cobblers' heaviest loss at Sixfields since 1947.

Goalkeeping coach Flowers has now assumed the position, with Lee leaving the npower League Two club.

Northampton chairman David Cardoza said: "We part on good terms with David. David came here as part of Gary Johnson's staff and we wish him well for the future.

"Tim Flowers will take caretaker charge of the first team until further notice as our search for a new permanent manager continues."
