Mikel Arteta has still not given up hope of Folarin Balogun signing a new contract at Arsenal.

The 19-year-old is into the final five months of his current deal at Emirates Stadium and he is yet to pen fresh terms.

The forward is attracting interest from clubs all over Europe and is weighing up his options before deciding his future.

Balogun has found chances had to come by at Arsenal this season, making just five appearances, but Arteta is still hopeful that the youngster may sign a new deal.

“I’m still very positive that Flo is going to stay with us and it’s what we’re trying to do as a club, and it’s what I’m trying to do as a manager,” he said.

“As far as I know from last week, the player wants to be here, so I’m positive.

“I think he’s made some big progress in a few months.”
