Joe Allen suffered a hamstring injury in Liverpool's Capital One Cup clash with Notts County

Wales boss Chris Coleman had included Allen in his party for the Group A double-header but the hamstring injury he suffered in the Reds' Capital One Cup win over Notts County means he will miss out.

He joins Swansea left-back Neil Taylor (thigh) in being ruled out, with the pair being replaced by Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan and Taylor's Swans' team-mate Jazz Richards.

A statement on the Football Association of Wales website read: "Liverpool's Joe Allen will be forced to miss the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Serbia.

"Allen was injured playing for his club against Notts County at Anfield on Tuesday night in the League Cup. He joins Swansea City's Neil Taylor on the sidelines."
