Football - Barker delighted with victory

Portsmouth boss Richie Barker was pleased to pick up a clean sheet as well as the three points as Pompey beat Wycombe 1-0.

Ryan Taylor's penalty early in the second half after defender Gary Doherty was adjudged to have brought down Wes Fogden was enough to see off the Chairboys.

"I haven't had chance to ask (Fogden), but I must admit that from where I was it looked like a penalty," said Barker.

"I heard their bench saying it didn't look like there were too many appeals, but I've seen them given, and a couple of weeks ago we had one similar where Jake Jervis didn't get it.

"Trevor Carson pulled off a couple of very good saves, and he was safe for us, he certainly put himself back into being a part of what we're doing.

"It took a little bit of luck, we've not had any since I came but at times you make your own luck with the ability to throw yourselves into defending as well as we did.

"Would not winning have been the end of the world? No, not really and there's still a long way to go, it's obviously nice, it's another clean sheet and we've got three points."
