Football - Bennett urges Canaries to kick on

Elliott Bennett hopes to experience the winning feeling again this season to confirm Norwich's Barclays Premier League survival after scoring the goal which all but condemned Reading to relegation.

After Ryan Bennett netted early in the second half, Elliott Bennett struck almost immediately in the 2-1 win at Carrow Road on Saturday for just Norwich's second win in 17 Premier League matches.

The crucial victory saw the Canaries move seven points clear of 18th-placed Wigan with four games to play - the fixtures coming against Stoke, Aston Villa, West Brom and Manchester City.

"It's an amazing three points and a brilliant feeling to get back to winning ways," Elliott Bennett said.

"It's been a long time coming for us - we haven't been on a great run.

"We had a really good run earlier on in the season and hopefully we can go on a little bit of a run to end the season on a high."

Manager Chris Hughton does not believe Norwich's 38-point total is enough to secure his side's top-flight future, but their destiny is in their own hands - particularly as next opponents Stoke and Villa are beneath them in the table.

Elliott Bennett agreed with his boss.

"We've just got to concentrate on ourselves," the winger said.

"We've got the points on the board and hopefully we can kick on now and have some more positive results between now and the end of the season."
