Football - Burton upbeat about point

Scunthorpe forward Deon Burton believes there are plenty of positives to take from his side's 1-1 draw with Newport at the weekend.

Sam Winnall's early header put the Iron in front before Andrew Hughes' second-half equaliser saw Brian Laws' side throw away a lead for the third time in as many games.

Burton praised his side's first-half performance but insisted the team must learn from their mistakes.

He told the club's official website: "I think that we started brightly, and we played some really good football in the first half.

"I think that that was one of the best first-half performances of the season so far, and unfortunately, we just didn't carry that on in the second half.

"They changed their formation a little bit, and dropped back their centre-midfielder on to me to stop me winning the headers.

"It was a disappointing second half, but there are lots of positives to take.

"I think we just stopped doing the things that got us into the good positions but that's something which we can only learn from."
