Football - Butcher hails `significant' win

Inverness boss Terry Butcher felt the 2-1 Highland derby success over Ross County was a significant win, with his side now on the verge of a top-six finish for the first-time ever.

Caley Thistle secured their win with Billy McKay's 59th-minute spot-kick proving decisive after a stunning strike by Paul Lawson 10 minutes before the interval had cancelled out Andrew Shinnie's fifth-minute opener for Inverness.

The result was enough to move Caley Thistle back above County into third place in the Scottish Premier League table, while the Dingwall club dropped down to fourth.

County boss Derek Adams felt Caley Thistle should not have been awarded the penalty, but Butcher said: "We felt we should have had a penalty at Victoria Park, so maybe justice has evened itself out.

"Derek Adams didn't think it was a penalty, but I think the one two weeks ago was.

"I'm very pleased with the players. We're not quite there yet in terms of top six, but we're just about there, so I'm delighted."
