The Cherries acquired Camp on a 28-day deal from the Barclays Premier League club at the end of October and, after appearing in all three of their games since, Howe is hopeful of keeping him around.
That may be the only business Bournemouth conduct before the window closes on Thursday, though, with Howe finding frustration in his efforts to source new recruits from elsewhere.
Asked by Hot Radio about Camp, Howe said: "We have been in contact with West Brom and hopefully that will be tied up today (Wednesday).
"We aren't expecting it to be too busy. We are looking at all positions, as we always do, but it is a difficult time to loan players.
"Every club is in the same boat because if you loan players out, then you won't be able to call them back during what will be a busy spell and potentially you could leave yourself short.
"The real top players are difficult to get at the moment, but we will wait and see. It will probably go right to the wire if we do anything or not."
