Football - Cooper hails Robins' response

Swindon boss Mark Cooper praised his side's reaction to their FA Cup humiliation after seeing off Wycombe in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

The Robins made the headlines for all the wrong reasons on Saturday as they fell to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Skrill Premier Macclesfield, but they hit back against Wanderers at the County Ground to make the Southern Area semi-finals.

Nicky Ajose's brace in the final 12 minutes, including an injury-time winner, secured a 2-1 triumph after Matt McClure had handed Wycombe a half-time lead.

"The players showed how much they cared," Cooper said.

"It was important we put on a performance and got a reaction and I felt that happened. You saw the players cared.

"We played some good really stuff for most if the game. We really try to play some decent football but we can't keep it up for all of the 90 minutes.

"On the flip side, every time the ball goes in our box we look jittery and we can't keep conceding goals and expect to come behind and win."
