Football - Coyle ready to freshen up

Wigan boss Owen Coyle is set to ring the changes for his side's trip to Yeovil on Sunday.

Coyle dropped the likes of Marc-Antoine Fortune, the on-loan Nick Powell and regular skipper Emmerson Boyce to the bench for the midweek game in Russia - which Wigan finished strongly, coming close to scoring an equaliser - and all three could come back on Sunday into a side the manager says will be "freshened".

Coyle is hopeful Ben Watson will be available after he felt unwell and missed the Rubin encounter, and on-loan Marc Albrighton, who did not travel to Russia having been ineligible, can now be selected again.

With Scott Carson (ankle) still injured, 21-year-old goalkeeper Lee Nicholls is set to continue in goal, while Jean Beausejour (foot) is not yet ready to return.

"This is a tremendous group of players to work with," Coyle said.

"We have played a lot of games in a short space of time, but you saw (at the end of the Rubin game) that we don't let up.

"We have had to freshen things at the right times and utilise the squad, and we'll do that again."
