Football - Curle on striker mission

Notts County chairman Ray Trew has given boss Keith Curle the green light to bolster his squad ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.

Curle is keen to add to his attack after allowing veteran striker Lee Hughes to leave the club by mutual consent, and the Magpies manager has handed a list of targets to the money men at Meadow Lane.

"I've had a fantastic phone call from the chairman," Curle told the club's official website. "He basically told me `tell me what you want, tell me what you need and I'll do my best to accommodate you if a financial package can be sorted out whereby we can fit it into the salary cost management'.

"There's a little bit of movement there and we've just got to get the right player in at the right cost.

"I gave the chairman seven potential targets that I think would suit the way we play and are also the quality of player that we're looking to bring to the football club.

"The difficulty now is going to be the finances, but when the chairman asks what you want, you give your top six or seven targets first of all.

"I know they're quite expensive ones but you get what you pay for."
