Football - Cut mistakes warns Alex boss

Steve Davis wants Crewe to stamp out the mistakes which have blighted their poor start to the Sky Bet League One season.

After the high of winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy earlier in the calendar year, the Alex have struggled to maintain that form in this campaign.

They have won just once in the league, failing to find the net in three of their six games and they threw away a two-goal lead to draw against Peterborough on Saturday.

Davis was pleased his troops were unhappy after only coming away with a point against Darren Ferguson's in-form outfit and now wants to focus on eradicating the errors.

"The players were disappointed with the result on Saturday and it was great that they were disappointed," he told Crewe's official website.

"They were in the dressing room with their heads down thinking they should have won the game and we all thought that. We were all hurting.

"But I am looking at the bigger picture. Our game plan was good, we were disciplined and we scored two great goals. We just have to cut out those mistakes.

"If we hadn't conceded those late goals against Rotherham and Peterborough we'd have nine points so we'd be happy with that. It is little defining moments we have to do better with."
