Football - Double gong for Spireites

Chesterfield boss Paul Cook has been named as the Sky Bet League Two manager of the month for August while winger Gary Roberts was voted as the division's player of the month.

Cook's first full season in charge could not have started much better, with the Derbyshire club unbeaten in the league and top of the table after five matches.

Rochdale are the only team to take points off the Spireites, drawing 2-2 at Spotland, with Chesterfield winning their other games against Bury, Cheltenham, Southend and Portsmouth - scoring 10 goals along the way and conceding only three times.

Three of those goals were scored by Roberts, whose eye-catching performances following his summer move from Swindon saw him take home the player of the month award - capping an impressive month for the early pacesetters.
