Football - Draw was fair - Smith

Walsall manager Dean Smith felt his side's 1-1 draw at Sheffield United was a fair result but was disappointed they failed to come away with all three points.

Chris Porter gave the Blades the lead from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage-time but Walsall levelled within two minutes of the restart through Craig Westcarr's header.

"I thought we were average. We've played a lot better and we didn't get to the standard that we have been at," said Smith.

"I thought both teams struggled a little and I think a draw was probably a fair result in the end.

"It shows how far we've come that we go away from Sheffield United feeling disappointed at only getting a point. We never felt like we were going to get beat so it's pleasing progress."
