Football - Espinoza committed to the cause

Wigan midfielder Roger Espinoza has stressed he remains fully committed to the club's battle to beat the drop, despite only being given minimal game time of late.

Following his January arrival from Sporting Kansas City, Espinoza enjoyed a brief run of starts for the Latics, but since the FA Cup victory at Huddersfield on February 17 he has made just four appearances, all as a substitute.

The latest of those came in Saturday's 2-2 Barclays Premier League home draw with Tottenham, and after the match the Honduras international emphasised that he is ready to play a part for Wigan - currently 18th in the table with four games to go - whenever and however he is called upon.

"Every game whether I'm playing or not I'm always ready to give my very best for this team," said Espinoza, quoted on www.wiganlatics.co.uk.

"I haven't played that much lately but I'm still very committed to the cause.

"I think I helped the team well during my time on the pitch but at the end we didn't get the three points and that's the only thing that mattered."
