Rovers manager Brian Flynn insisted it was a point gained rather than two lost

David Syers, 25, may return to contention after a month-long absence with an ankle injury but Saturday's trip to Johnstone's Paint Trophy winners Crewe seems like a more likely target for the player.

Meanwhile, fellow midfielders Martin Woods (calf) and Paul Keegan (thigh) both underwent scans last week on their respective injuries.

The pair have not completely given up hope of returning before Doncaster's final game of the season at Brentford on April 27, but it seems highly unlikely that either of them will recover in time to play again this campaign.

Rovers boss Brian Flynn named an unchanged side against Tranmere at the weekend. He has options should he wish to freshen things up against the Cumbrians with defenders Paul Quinn and James Husband, midfielder Cameron Howieson and strikers Billy Paynter and Iain Hume ready to come into the team.

Victory for Doncaster would see them stretch their lead at the top of the table to five points.
