Football - Goal-shy Pilgrims wait on striker

Plymouth boss John Sheridan is hopeful of adding a new striker to boost his goal-shy squad before Saturday's trip to Mansfield.

PA Sport Report

Argyle are the lowest scorers in Sky Bet League Two, with just eight goals in 13 games, while Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Newport means they have netted just twice in the last seven matches.

But Sheridan is waiting for a phone call from the available forward who he believes would give his side a real lift and the former Chesterfield boss is optimistic a deal could be arranged in time.

Sheridan named an attacking line-up against the Exiles and Lewis Alessandra and Andrew Blackman will hope to keep their places having started ahead of Durrell Berry and Jamie Reckord.
