Football - Jackett braced for Henderson departure

Kenny Jackett expects Millwall striker Darius Henderson to complete a move to Nottingham Forest.

The 31-year-old was Millwall's top scorer last season with 19 and has scored seven so far this term, but he is out of contract in the summer.

"He's speaking to them today (Thursday) and we will see how those talks go. We've got to presume they will be successful," said manager Jackett.

"If he does go I thank him for what he's done and wish him all the best in the future. His contract is up in the summer and maybe we need to regenerate in that area."

Jackett also denied reports West Ham have made an bid for midfielder Liam Trotter.

"There's been no enquiry or offer from West Ham," he added. "He's a player who has done very well for us, and he's not someone we'd be looking to replace."

Jackett wants to extend the loan spell of Tottenham defender Adam Smith, which ends next week, but does not know if the Premier League side will agree to the deal.

"I've spoken to Spurs, to the player and his agent," he said. "The player's very happy here but from Spurs' point of view, in an ideal world he will go on at some stage to get some Premier League experience.

"When that stepping stone happens, I don't know. We hope it will be prolonged for six months. I'd anticipate a decision next week."M
