Football - Jackett ready to move on from Wood

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett remained upbeat following his side's 1-0 defeat at Cardiff, but says his team must come to terms with the departure of top scorer Chris Wood.

Rudy Gestede scored the only goal of the game after eight minutes as the visitors failed to find an equaliser.

Jackett was unable to call upon Wood, who scored 11 goals in 19 games during his loan spell with the Lions, but the south Londoners created plenty of chances.

Bluebirds goalkeeper David Marshall produced neat saves to stop Darius Henderson, Danny Shittu and James Henry as the away side were kept at bay.

Jackett said: "It was a good performance and the positive was the amount of chances we created. You need to finish those off. But we didn't go down easy at all.

"We have to get over Chris leaving. The people above me tried very hard to keep him. We are disappointed, but they could not do any more in our remit.

"He had an opportunity to go to a club geared for the Premier League. Money was one of those things, but it wasn't solely that.

"I thanked him for his efforts and I wish him well."
