The Owls turned a few heads with their acquisition of the Barcelona `B' forward on a season-long loan back in August and the 22-year-old announced himself to the Hillsborough faithful with a stunning goal on his debut against Birmingham.
Since then, though, Rodri has failed to score and has barely featured in Jones' plans.
The Wednesday boss concedes the young Spaniard is finding the transition from Barcelona to Sheffield difficult.
"If he'd have been a more senior player he might have adapted," Jones said.
"It's adapting to the culture, the way of life, the weather - it can be everything. He came in and lit the place up and all of sudden he started to dip.
"If we're all honest he is finding it difficult. He is finding it very, very difficult.
"Being a young player he has to adapt and that's just taken longer than what we expected and probably what he expected.
"He's lively. He's still got a smile on his face. I've spoken to him many times about what he needs to do and he's trying to work at that."
