The former Bury boss is managing in the south for the first time and he says, despite the club's location, Torquay has plenty to offer to players.
"I think it's best you're really honest with players," he told the club's official website. "I want them to come down and see the place.
"I want them to see the town and realise how far it is. If I'm bringing a player from the north and we want them to commit and live in the area, they need to know about the travelling.
"I don't want a player to come here and then regret it because of the geography. I'm sure once they're here, and I've said this to most players, they will see there isn't a better place to live in this country.
"It is so different from most other places in England and I know they'll enjoy the football as well as living in the area."
