Football - Lockyer boosts Pirates options

Bristol Rovers boss John Ward has a decision to make at centre-back against Torquay on Boxing Day.

Ward threw Mark McChrystal straight back into action for their 2-0 win against Portsmouth on Saturday, shortly after he spent three months on the sidelines with a bout of tendinitis.

His return to action after just a few days' training came because of Tom Lockyer's one-match suspension and the centre-back is available again - giving Ward a welcome selection problem.

And should the Pirates boss decide to shuffle his pack he has the likes of Ellis Harrison and Preston loanee Chris Beardsley pushing for recalls at Plainmoor.
