Crewe boss Steve Davis slammed his players for failing to understand the magic of the FA Cup after suffering a shock 2-0 exit to Wycombe.

It was a miserable evening for the Alex boss, who watched his side follow Saturday's 5-0 humbling at the hands of Brentford with a comfortable home defeat to the League Two side.

Second-half goals from Steven Craig and Gary Doherty knocked Crewe out of the cup at the first hurdle and left their manager fuming.

"At the moment, I'm struggling to get the best out of all of them," he said.

"Obviously we've got a few missing, but the team should have been good enough to win the game.

"They should have done better and it's disappointing that they haven't.

"We let the supporters down big style, because I really wanted to do well in this competition.

"They haven't realised the opportunity that you can get in the FA Cup, what it brings and the magic of the competition."
