Tony Pulis brought in Scott Dann, Wayne Hennessey and Joe Ledley on Friday, with Blackpool winger Tom Ince joining on loan and winger Jason Puncheon making his move to Selhurst Park permanent.

None of the new players made their debuts in Sunday's 2-0 defeat at league-leaders Arsenal but Mariappa, who joined Palace from Reading on the transfer deadline day in September, feels the latest additions will help in the fight against the drop,

"We have met them and they seem really good lads so I'm sure they'll be excited to get down to business," he told the Croydon Advertiser.

"It only bodes well that we're strengthening the squad. They look like some really good players and they seem like good characters. That's what we need going forward.

"As a player, it's a bit mad to be fair on deadline day. I'm just glad the window has finally settled and I'm not involved in it."
