Motherwell boss Stuart McCall says his side will be able to compete as they did last term despite losing an entire team of players.

The Fir Park men qualified for the Europa League by finishing second in the Scottish Premier League.

But McCall has confirmed he will have to do with out utility man Tom Hateley and 27-goal striker Michael Higdon after both rejected new deals.

Another nine members of last season's squad have also departed, with Nicky Law now at Rangers and Estonian Henrick Ojamaa now at Polish side Legia Warsaw.

Goalkeeper Darren Randolph also departed for Birmingham while Kallum Higginbotham's loan stint from Huddersfield came to an end and Steven Saunders, Omar Daley, Steven Hetherington, Josh Watt and Nicky Devlin were all released.

But McCall is hopeful of adding several new faces to his squad, and said: "If we get the targets we hope to get in I will be confident we will go on to have a really good season."
