The striker, who has bagged 17 goals in 25 appearances, returned to parent club Nottingham Forest this week after his loan spell expired with City's 1-0 defeat to Shrewsbury on New Year's Day.
City boss Mark Robins is trying desperately hard to bring McGoldrick back to the Ricoh Arena but an answer to the club slim hopes is not expected before the third-round tie at White Hart Lane.
Loanees James Bailey and Blair Adams have both been cleared to play, with the latter due to make the final appearance of his stay although Coventry are, again, keen to strike a new deal.
Robins is not expected to have any new injury or suspension concerns for the encounter.
