The Baggies boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 win at fellow strugglers Norwich, to bring a positive end to a week which had been dominated by reports of a dressing-room bust-up after the 3-3 draw against Cardiff.

Spaniard Mel was appointed as successor to Steve Clarke in January on an 18-month deal.

However, the 51-year-old former Rayo Vallecano and Betis boss admits he cannot think past the remaining matches of what has been a testing campaign for The Hawthorns club.

"I don't know where I am going to be next season," said Mel when asked if goalscorer Morgan Amalfitano, on loan from Marseille, was a player he would like to keep hold of.

"This is a different country, a different language, another way of doing things, but I said at the time (of my appointment) I would make sure that I met the objective (of staying up) and that is what is taking place.

"This is a league in which anyone can take points of anyone, you can take points off Chelsea and you can take points off Liverpool which is why it is the most competitive league in the world."
