Football - Robins performance pleases Yates

Cheltenham manager Mark Yates was pleased with his side's display as they battled their way to a point following a 0-0 draw at York.

The Robins have not recorded a victory in the league since Boxing Day but they went close to grabbing all the points with Jermaine McGlashan shooting narrowly wide in the closing stages.

Yates hailed the way his side finished the game and he believes there are positives to take forward to the upcoming games.

"I actually enjoyed the last 30 minutes and I thought we battled and scrapped in awful conditions. They weren't perfect conditions to play in but you have to dig in sometimes and we showed we could do that. I thought in the last 30 minutes we played with a bit of enjoyment, a bit of freedom and we counter-attacked well and we could easily have nicked it.

"Scott (Brown) has only made saves from the free-kicks in both halves and we've not really tested their goalkeeper enough. I thought we had some really good passages of play and it gives us something to look at for the coming weeks.

"It wasn't free-flowing football but sometimes you have to do what is necessary. It's a good point, even though we would have liked three. The conditions were awful but I thought we dealt with them well."
