Having helped Saints secure back-to-back promotions, the 23-year-old has earned rave reviews in his first season as a Premier League player.

Schneiderlin has previously spoken of his desire to impress national team manager Didier Deschamps and midfield partner Cork believes he deserves to be given a shot by France.

"Definitely. He's played every game in the Premier League this year and not been outdone by anyone," he said.

"He's looked a great player, he's not looked out of place at all, and it's really suiting him the Premier League.

"I don't see why they shouldn't look at him for an international, because he's been brilliant."
