Posh headed into the game boasting the longest active streak without defeat in the second tier having not failed to pick up at least a point since tackling Bolton on February 26.
Yet Premier League-chasing Brighton, who sat fifth in the table prior to the encounter, were always likely to provide a stiff test.
Those factors combined to create an edgy clash that, following a first half of chances at both ends, failed to ignite after the interval.
However, even in the midst of a nervy meeting, Matthew Upson rattled the crossbar for Brighton with a header from David Lopez's corner and Tommy Rowe managed to produce one of the misses of the season when failing to convert an open goal in the 77th minute.
That, unsurprisingly, proved the best opportunity as both sides settled for a point, Posh ending the evening 20th and the Seagulls fourth.
