Football - Sheridan satisfied with point

Plymouth boss John Sheridan said a draw was a "fair result" as they held Torquay to a 1-1 stalemate in the Devon derby.

The Gulls drew first blood in the sixth minute when Elliot Benyon tapped in the rebound after Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick had made a brilliant diving save to keep out Damien Mozika's 20-yard rocket.

Argyle hit back three minutes later as Reuben Reid scored from the spot after Nathan Craig was adjudged to have handled in the box.

Sheridan said: "I think it was a fair result, I don't think it was a great game. I think it was a typical derby game, lots of effort, scrappy at times but both teams gave their all.

"There wasn't much quality football played but Torquay made it very hard for us, got us on the back foot, hitting passes into the front men early so we had to defend well at times.

"I would have just liked for us to have had a bit of belief and try and get the ball down and try and play a little bit more but we'll take a point. I think a draw was a fair result.

"We knew they would come at us, they haven't been winning games but credit to them because they don't look like a team that should be down near the bottom of the league.

"Full credit to them. I thought they put a lot of effort in for their manager."
