Football - It's sink or swim time - Flitcroft

David Flitcroft refused to apportion any blame on goalkeeper Mike Pollitt, who made his debut for the club in Tuesday night's 5-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Southampton.

Barnsley conceded five goals for the second time in five days and following the 5-2 weekend defeat at Blackburn Flitcroft brought in Pollitt on loan from Wigan to help ease the pressure on first-choice Luke Steele, who has conceded 12 goals in the opening four league games.

Flitcroft is now looking for a reaction from all of his players in their next outing at home to Huddersfield on Saturday.

"Football's like life - you either sink or swim, you're a victim or you're not," added Flitcroft.

"The ones who want to fight will fight. I'm not interested in seeing victims.

"But it's also going to be about how I react and what the players see from me."
