Football - No talks over future yet - Lambert

Paul Lambert hopes his Aston Villa side can secure their top-flight status against Chelsea in front of watching chairman Randy Lerner before sitting down with the club's owner to plan for next season.

American billionaire Lerner is in England at the moment and will be in the stands when Villa seek to avenge their 8-0 demolition by the Blues earlier this term.

Victory for Lambert's in-form side would guarantee they could not be caught by 18th-placed Wigan and finally put to rest the relegation fears they have been haunted by for much of the Barclays Premier League campaign.

Only then will Lambert and Lerner get together and discuss the future.

"We haven't talked about it yet but we will probably do that if we get over the line," the Scot said. "We have discussed general things about how things are going. It's just been small talk.

"Randy has been great. He has been from day one. He's been really supportive. We just had a general chat (this week) - nothing too major. He was just up to see us. He has been really supportive all season."
