Who football team does Ricky Gervais support? Office star to appear on Stick to Football podcast
Ricky Gervais may be known for his comedy TV hits and controversial jokes - but his football loyalty is often something that isn't known.
The 62-year-old is best known for creating shows like The Office and After Life. He often directs, produces and writes his own stuff. But as with any Englishman, there is always a question as to what football team they support.
Gervais was born in Reading and has since woven the fondness for the football club into many of his TV hits. His iconic lead character in The Office, David Brent, claims to be a Reading FC fan.

There is a flag at the Select Car Leasing Stadium which reads: "Guilty, I support Reading" which is a quote from the BBC series. It is however evident in the show that Brent might be overplaying his love for football so he looks 'cool.'
Although the Royals have played a big part in Brent's career, his latest venture into football takes him much further up north to York City. The back of the shirt sponsor for York is Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka. This is the Vodka that Gervais has co-owned since last year and features in many of their advertisements.
York City play in the National League, where they are currently second, tied on points with Forest Green at the top, who are first on goal difference.
The English actor was part of the release for the team's away shirt. York had gifted him a jersey with his name on the back paired with the number 1. Gervais took to X to share the news by saying: "Dutch Barn Vodka is the proud sponsor of York City FC. Either this is a light-hearted gift or I've got some bad news for their current goalie."
The comedian did also produce a small sketch referencing the England football team many years ago. In the sketch, he brings out 'Peter Crouch' and 'Wayne Rooney.' The people who actually end up appearing were Stephen Merchant as Crouchy and Warwick Davies, who took the role of Rooney, making a joke of their height difference.
