Swansea goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel is relishing the chance to play against Chelsea in Thursday's Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge.

The 34-year-old has featured in every round of the competition for the Swans and hopes to keep his place as Michael Laudrup's side bid for a place in a major final for the first time in their history.

The German keeper, who has experience of knockout football after reaching the Champions League play-offs with Salzburg two years ago, knows a tough task awaits, but he believes Swansea should be confident of their chances.

"I think it's great for us that the second leg is at home because we will have the whole stadium shouting for us to try and get us to the final," Tremmel told the club's official website.

"But we have a lot of hard work ahead of us on Wednesday - we must ensure that we give ourselves a good chance of getting through.

"I thought we performed well in the league and we deserved a draw against them, but now there will be a winner over two legs and we know we have to be at the top of our game."
