Football - Tykes mull over Mellis availability

Barnsley are still sweating on the fitness of Jacob Mellis for the televised visit of Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder missed last week's 2-2 draw at Leicester with a dead-leg and he has yet to return to full training as boss Keith Hill tried to protect the injury.

That is the only injury concern for Hill, though, as he leads his side into the South Yorkshire derby aiming for the club's first win in 11 games.

David Perkins is back in contention after returning from a hamstring injury in a substitute role at Leicester last weekend, though experienced striker Mido is poised to leave Oakwell in the next few days.

John Stones returned to the side at the King Power Stadium, allowing Martin Cranie to move into the middle of defence, with Jim McNulty dropping out of the side.

And Hill will assess his opposition before deciding what combination to go with at the back.

The Owls arrive at Oakwell in similarly poor form, having lost their last seven games.
