No vintage performance from Clarets

Sean Dyche accepted his Burnley side turned in a below-par display in the 1-1 draw at Barnsley.

Charlie Austin headed his 21st goal of the season to hand the Clarets a fifth-minute lead but they failed to press home the advantage and Marcus Tudgay levelled for the hosts before the interval.

"I am pleased with the outcome more than the performance," said Dyche. "I wasn't pleased with the performance, particularly the first half.

"But we demand a lot from the players and we have to be realistic and know we might have a soft performance every now and then.

"So within that, the major positive was that we came out of it with a point. But the performance, especially in the first half, was not something that I was enjoying.

"We never grasped the ball and that was the main thing I was disappointed with. But it is quite obvious we are becoming a difficult side to beat, which is important in the Championship."
