The 21-year-old gave away an eighth minute goal on his first league start, allowing Marc Richards to fire past Sam Slocombe from the edge of the box, but he made amends in the 88th minute when he headed a free-kick past Tommy Lee.
Laws said: "I felt for Luke but it never affected him. He put in a sterling performance and I was delighted to see him score the goal because that was a perfect response from him.
"He was feeling pretty low at half time because he's made the mistake but he kept going and the goal was fantastic for him and for us. He was really determined to get on the end of something because he wanted to repay the players.
"We had to be solid. And let's look at the conditions as well, it was a very windy day and kicking against it with no idea where the ball was going to be landing made it difficult, but the players worked really hard.
"We got the goal and we could have snatched it at the end, I'm sure they were more worried when the ball was coming into the box. We had a bit of fortune when they hit the bar but we deserved something for the way we stuck to the task."
